The Ranakhail School is up and running thanks to the proceeds from PS 3’s fundraising efforts, including: Annual direct drives;
Sales of “Key to the Heart,” a beautiful book of traditional Afghan tales illustrated by both PS 3 and Afghan school children; Annual fun-filled school wide dance-a-thons; Classroom literary magazine sales; and Countless pennies, nickels, dimes and quarters collected in an innovative fundraising and educational math activity dubbed the “Change for Change” program. | PS 3 has raised close to $50,000—an incredible sum! The pictures of the Ranakhail School prove that the thoughtful and committed people of the PS3 community have made a positive change in the world. As wonderful as the success of the past few years has been, PS 3’s commitment to the Ranakhail School is for five years until local tax revenues make the school self-supporting. It takes only $30 to send a child to school for a year in Afghanistan, and only $60 per month to pay a teacher’s salary. |
